Last month I had the joy of sharing my Icons with many friends and people in Sarasota, Florida. I was able to exhibit sixteen of my large Icons that haven’t been shown in Florida before.
It was so much fun hearing people’s questions and comments. Most people know very little about Icons today, so having an exhibition like this is such a great opportunity to provide knowledge and help them to see how Icons are relevant today.
I’m reading Thomas of Kempis’ beautiful book “The Imitation of Christ” and he reminds us to look into the examples of the Holy Fathers who served Christ in hunger, in persecutions, toil and weariness. How inspiring it is to remember the saints of old and bring some of their spiritual strength and piety into our lives today. Icons help us to do that as we connect to the Saint or Gospel scene in the Icons and bring those truths into our present day prayer lives.
I will be teaching an Icon writing class at Mt. Calvary Monastery in Santa Barbara at the beginning of March. It is a Benedictine Episcopal Monastery that is connected to Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY where I also teach two classes this spring and summer. This class at Mt. Calvary is completely full now, but you can still register for the Holy Cross Classes.

May God keep you in His peace,
