Icon Writing Class at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM
April 29-May 5 2018
Have you ever wanted to experience the landscape and see the sky that inspired Georgia O’Keefe? The Icon writing class at Ghost Ranch will be the perfect opportunity to do just that.

About Ghost Ranch
For more than fifty five years, Ghost ranch has been a retreat center owned and operated by the Presbyterian Church. Arthur Pack gave the ranch to the Presbyterian Church in 1955. But he sold a little piece of it to Georgia O”Keefe who lived and painted there for decades.
Committed to the preservation of the environment, Ghost Ranch offers a wide variety of classes throughout the year. Located in a Northern New Mexico landscape that many find sacred, it is an interfaith educational center where all are welcome to come, and experience God through discovery and transformation.
In this Icon writing class the participants will have the choice of painting either a Saint Francis Icon, or a Madonna and Child Icon. We use egg tempera paints and gold leaf gilding for each Icon. Christine teaches several classes throughout the year on the East Coast as well.

“The Glory of God is a living man, and the life of man consists of beholding God.” St. Iraneus, 2nd century
St. Iraneus’ quote goes a long way in explaining the basis of Icons. We are made in God’s image, and through the Incarnation, God’s Word was made flesh. The Icon is an image depicting a human being who manifests the Divine in his acts and countenance.
